Bridges will be offering a driver education course for novice drivers in Oregon starting in late Winter 2023/early Spring 2024.

If you have a student under age 18 who is interested, please complete the Contact Us form with subject line “Driver Education request” so we can keep you updated on our progress

Our Services.

We all want to feel safe, whether we are the driver, passenger, or as we encounter other drivers on the road.

At Bridges, our goal is to help you or your loved one understand your safety and ability to return to, or continue, driving after a life-altering injury or illness. We also get asked to complete driver safety evaluations for clients when their family members or doctors express concerns. We love to try to help however we can! If driving isn’t a safe match right now, our goal is to help identify alternative transportation options that work for you or determine if you might benefit from continued training in skills.

We come to you.

Our goal is to meet you in your own community where you feel most comfortable driving. We complete occupational therapy clinical screenings and on-road evaluations in your own home/community. We will meet you in any city in Oregon!

For those clients in Washington, we are currently working on expanding our services to southern Washington, both east and west. Reach out to us about our progress if you are looking for services!

Experience with OT?

We provide the option for a discounted evaluation fee for clients who have recently completed clinical screening and/or training in driving skills with an occupational therapist. Contact us for more information!

Training.

Not quite ready to get back behind the wheel? Whether it’s new equipment, changes in your motor skills or language, or just a confidence booster, we do offer one-hour training blocks after an initial evaluation has been completed where you can practice specific skills or use of equipment.

We are now able to offer training to new drivers (unlicensed or licensed) as well. We offer a modified driver’s education program for clients with equipment needs and without. Reach out to us for more details

Adaptations.

If you think you might need special equipment to drive, we can provide specialty training to help you safely use that equipment. Equipment might include devices such as hand controls, steering knob, or left foot accelerator.

While we have dreams to continue to grow our services, at this time we are not able to offer evaluations for higher technology equipment (variable effort steering, remote panels or switch arrays for secondary controls, etc), or bioptic lenses. If you have equipment-specific questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us to see who might better be able to serve you if we cannot.

We will continue to update our list of service offerings as our driver rehabilitation specialist continues to advance her training and exposure to other areas of need.
