Even more adaptive equipment!

Marisa here!

I’ve had a great opportunity with ADED, the national driver rehabilitation certification governing body, to participate in a training webinar to learn more about adaptive equipment every day this week. I’ve talked to some of you about my hope and dreams for eventually expanding our service options in the future and courses like this are how we learn other options to educate you and hopefully get you back to driving. We do have some fantastic equipment options already with our Featherlite hand controls, Switches, and Bever Mobility demo SmartSteer secondary control devices. I am overjoyed getting to share these equipment options with anyone who is interested. If you haven’t seen them, check out our videos about our equipment here.

This course that I’m currently taking helps me understand how I can continue to help clients with a wide range of abilities. Whether it’s options for safely stowing your assistive device (read: wheelchair) for driving, or options for making sure you have the best fit in your vehicle, I’m getting so much new information. I can’t wait to put it to use! It’s already giving me good ideas of equipment to put on our Bridges “wish list” for 2022. Do you think 2022 will be a better year and help us get some more equipment to help serve you better? Is there something that you would hope to see in our equipment training options?

Reach out to me via our Contact page if there is specific equipment you are interested in learning about. If I don’t know it yet, hopefully I’ll learn it better between this class and the national conference in January.

I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season! We are still open and seeing clients throughout the holiday season. Reach out to us for more information or scheduling options!
